Last weekend I was priviledged to participate
in the second EMW Retreat -
the first one opened to the community.
There were 72 women registered for the Friday night
Saturday morning sessions at
Riverlawn Christian Church in Wichita.
What a blessing are the women who share
their teachings and testimonies
with other women for the
building up and saving of marriages
in the Christian community.
We have 6 sessions along with two added
workshops . One for mommies - "The Mother's Role"
and the other titled "When Things Go Wrong."
I went to the "When Things Go Wrong" since
it's too late for the mommy thing for me.
Pam taught this one and it was excellent!!
She is singularly gifted for talking on this subject
as she is a psychiatric nurse, and
a very godly woman.
I'm sure the Mommy sessions was just as good,
given by Terese, mother of five and grandmother
to one.
The Friday evening was taught by
Bonnie - founder of EMW - on the
"Essence of Me" (the woman's role).
Also that evening was the session
"The Sum of My Man"
teaching the man's role and and his God given drives,
by Candace. She is delightful!!
Saturday following a continental breakfast we had
the session titled "Spell It Out, Honey" -
Communication in Marriage by Judy.
Also "Surely Not" - God's meaning of Submission
taught by Helen.
In the afternoon after a DELICIOUS lunch
of Creamed Chicken Casserole and grean beans flavored
with onion and bacon (Yum!),
we had the workshops,
then two more sessions:
the first one of the afternoon was
"Sincerely Yours" - God's gift
for the physical side of marriage
taught by Kristen, who holds a degree (or two)
in counselling and marriage and family therapy.
The last teaching was
"Seventy Times What?" on
"Seventy Times What?" on
Forgiveness and Receiving by
Gloria - a precious sister and minister's wife.
Our weekend was extremely blessed by
God and His Holy Spirit!
Sweet, sweet Spirit all weekend!
I truly love being involved in this ministry
because I truly believe that
marriage is God's design for man and woman
from the very beginning, -
Married men and women living
as God intended when He ordained marriage.
A Godly marriage can show forth
God's glory and be a testimony to the world
of His love and peace.
Not that every Christian marriage shows
these things because we all tend to
model after what the world does and says.
Getting back to the WORD of God
is essential - thus the teaching
of this ministry.
If you read this blog and are interested in bringing EMW
to your church for a weekend retreat for married women,
feel free to leave a comment with and email address, and
I will send you the necessary information.
There is no cost involved for having the EMW team
present the sessions and workshops,
only what your church needs to charge to cover the cost
of using your facility.
Pray about it and see if the Lord would have you
bring this meaningful retreat to the women
of your church!
